Dr. Leonard Bass

Leonard serves as a Senior Consultant for Caprock Solutions and manages the strategic direction and partnerships with academic institutions. Dr. Bass has extensive experience in higher education serving in multiple sectors over his 25-year career.

Since 2012, he has served as the Dean of the Learning Support at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. From 2014 to 2019, Leonard supported the expansion of the College’s First Year Experience course which resulted in enrollment increasing from approximately 8,000 to 18,000 students annually.  In 2016, his work led to a $2.5 million Title V grant from the US Department of Education.  Throughout his career he has raised over $6 million in federal, state and local grant funds.  Prior to Valencia, he served at Montgomery County Community College as Assistance Vice President for Student Services.  He has also served in leadership positions at DeVry University, and Temple University.  

His commitment to learning and helping students extends beyond the classroom.  In 2015, Leonard won first-place in Start-Up Weekend’s EdTech Orlando event for an idea to create a digital learning application (OpenU).  In 2016, and again in 2018, two of his programs; SEEUCF (Transfer Initiative) & CARE (Early Alert System), were recognized as the state's Exemplary Best Practice for Learning Support by the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC). Within his community, Leonard actively mentors students and serves on the Board of Directors for Covenant House Florida to help homeless youth learn job skills and become self-sufficient. Leonard holds Doctorate degree in Higher Education Leadership from Temple University. He is married with three kids and currently resides in Winter Park, FL.
